Dawn whispers to the tree of life
hushing the darkness of night,
illuminating the song of blossoms, leaves and branches.
I began this piece drawing on imagery in the passage below from the Song of Songs. As the painting progressed the increasing contrast of light and dark invoked a feeling of dawn, an apt symbol for the beginning of a couple's life together. May this new beginning be blessed!
My beloved speaks and says to me:
“Arise, my love, my fair one,
and come away;
for now the winter is past,
the rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth;
the time of singing has come,
and the voice of the turtledove
is heard in our land.
The fig tree puts forth its figs,
and the vines are in blossom;

Claire began working with MP Artworks at the Florida Studio in 2001. Encouraged by the work of the other artists and the art of ketubah making, she then began to explore and connect her Jewish heritage to her painting. This season breathed fresh air into her work and she soon began to display her paintings with MP Artworks. She is delighted at the privilege of sharing her work with couples as a celebration of their marriage and of Jewish culture.
Claire graduated from the University of Hawai'i in 1997, earning a BFA in painting with High Honors. Her works have appeared in exhibits throughout the U.S. and Canada. She currently works as a painter and graphic designer and resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia with her husband, Ian.
